Chaplains in Education 2026-2027

Who are we?

Growing Faith is a national commitment to achieve a culture change within the Church of England, so that every aspect of mission and ministry is considered by what it means for children, young people and families.

It comes from the vision set by the House of Bishops and endorsed by General Synod in 2019. It concerns relationships between schools and churches, and how these are developed to resource and support households to grow in faith together.

The network is formed of chaplains in schools and post-16 education.

We meet in order to:

Increase our understanding of the Growing Faith approach of schools, churches and households putting children and young people at the centre.

Explore themes relevant to our work and learn from others in the field.

Provide peer support in a safe space, including encouragement, ideas, resource-sharing and prayer.

Encourage each other as part of a national movement of educational chaplaincy.

How do we connect?

Date and times for the network meetings are found here. We invite you to see this is a menu, and to joining sessions which are useful and interesting for you and your role. Our sessions fit into four categories:

Gathering Sessions (1 hour)

We gather to learn and connect

Come to hear from guest speakers, connect with others in breakouts and hear what’s happening in the chaplaincy network.

Drop-In Sessions (30 minutes)

We support and encourage each other

Make a hot drink and join us for 30 minutes of catch up and encouragement. A chance to connect and chat.

Sector Sessions (45 minutes)

We share and learn with others in our sector

Sector specific sessions for learning with others in a similar context.

Focus Sessions (45 minutes)

We share and learn around a topic or need

A chance to be intentional about a specific topic or need, and how chaplaincy might best respond.

This network is for all chaplains in education, and those in similar roles.
